ACE Hotel | New York

Setting The Standard For Business & Pleasure

Happy New Year and welcome to the first-ever issue of La Recepción! Glad to have you here.

In this newsletter, I will discuss a variety of hotel lobbies ranging from the luxurious Miami Beach Edition to the humble Marriot Courtyard, through the lens of business and pleasure.

I thought it fitting to kick off this newsletter with the lobby that I think sets the standard - the ACE Hotel New York.

When you walk into the lobby of the ACE Hotel you are met with the low dim of MacBooks, the smell of fresh coffee, and an energy that makes you want to start something (for me it was this newsletter!).

The spacious lobby, coffee bar, and all-day happy hour make the ACE Hotel lobby an ideal environment to work from. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick meeting or posting up all day into the night, the ACE Hotel is the place to be.

ACE Hotel Lobby

Business

Lobby layout: open concept with a mixture of couches, bar stools, chairs, high tops, and a large wooden community table that can fit up to ten people with laptops.

The crowd: youthful, energetic, and mainly non-hotel guests.

Great for: meetings, checking emails, and posting up.

Coffee: full-service coffee bar in the lobby plus direct access to a Stumptown coffee roaster.

Music: relaxed and mostly instrumental. This Spotify playlist gives you a good idea of the type of music to expect.

Wifi: free public wifi that isn't gated.

Charging access: excellent. Outlets are scattered throughout the lobby, mainly on the center pillars (look for the lamps), and are built into the community table. Definitely bring your charger's extension cord.

Leave your stuff alone to go to the bathroom? Yes, everyone is on the same page and people are happy to watch your gear.

Callouts: The lobby is very dark and hightops/bar stools don’t have backs.

Pleasure

Lobby Bar or Restaurant: lobby bar appropriately named “The Lobby”.

Menu: beer, wine, cocktails, and food.

Happy Hour: beer & wine: 12P-6P EST / cocktails: 3P-6P EST.

Thirsty? try the Pickletini or Anytime Lager.

Hungry? try the Waygu Burger.

Any Hidden Jamhz? lobby nights. Every Thursday, Friday & Saturday night local and international DJs spin until late evening.
