Two Levels, All Business

Welcome back to La Recepción! Glad to have you and I hope you enjoy today’s scroll.
In this newsletter, I will discuss a variety of hotel lobbies ranging from the luxurious Miami Beach Edition to the humble Marriot Courtyard, through the lens of business and pleasure.
Today, we explore the unexpected lobby of the - Marriott Courtyard Midtown West.
When you walk into the lobby of the Marriott Courtyard, you are immediately met with an “L” shaped staircase and the realization that the stairs go down…to a second floor. It’s a double-decker lobby (a La Recepción first!) and it’s absolutely massive.
Home to high gloss tile floors, bright white LED lighting, and chrome-accented furniture this two level lobby has a very utilitarian feel. It’s an ideal spot to charge your devices, take a call or put out that unexpected fire while you are in town for say a conference.
The lobby might not look like much but it’s got it where it counts (plenty of outlets, seatings and coffee).

Marriot Courtyard Midtown West - Lobby (Lower Level)
Business
Lobby layout: two level lobby, filled with "business" couches and chairs, coffee tables, high tops, and a community table that fits 8 people.
The crowd: upper level filled with bustling NYC tourists, lower level was empty and quiet.
Charging access: excellent. Numerous outlets are evenly distributed along the walls throughout the lower level and are built into the community table for easy charging.
Great for: charging devices, taking a call, checking emails, and posting up (if needed).
Coffee: lobby bar doubles as a full-service coffee bar.
Music: yes, and I can only describe it as "modern lobby sounds". You basically tune it out within 60 seconds.
Wifi: free public wifi that isn't gated.
Printer: yes, one the upper level.
Bathrooms: located on the lower level by the lobby bar
Leave your stuff alone to go to the bathroom? I'd ask someone to watch your stuff or just take it with you.
Callouts: the coffee bar is closed between 2P-5P EST, the lobby isn't glamorous but they have a printer!

Pleasure
Lobby Bar or Restaurant: lobby bar & restaurant called Catria.
Menu: beer, wine, cocktails, and food (casual Italian).
Happy Hour: none (🥲).
Thirsty? stick to beer and wine.
Any Hidden Jamhz? none (🥲).
