The Mayfair House Hotel & Garden | Coconut Grove, FL
A Garden Sanctuary

Welcome back to La Recepción! Glad to have you and I hope you enjoy today’s scroll.
Snowbird season is upon us and it beckons La Recepción south to soak up the sun.
The following few issues of La Recepción will feature hotel lobbies from Florida (a snowbird’s paradise!) and San Deigo (America’s Finest City). If you are itching to get out of the cold these hotel lobbies offer flexible workspaces in the morning and leisurely afternoons by the pool.
The first stop on the migration south is the sun-soaked oasis that is the Mayfair House Hotel & Garden, Florida.
Tucked away in Maimi’s Coconut Grove, the lobby of the Mayfair House Hotel and Garden explodes with vibrant greenery, direct sunlight, and an exquisite Jeux d'eau.
An island lounge space, furnished with wicker deck chairs and sun umbrellas lays at the heart of the lobby, while vintage emerald green couches and small polished stone tables line the lobby’s outer rim.
It’s the first lobby I have seen where you can work on your slide deck and tan at the same time.
Oh, and don't forget to check out SipSips, a Caribean-Inspired Calypso Rum Bar and roof top pool.

The Mayfair Hotel Lobby & Garden
Business
Lobby layout: two-level open-air lobby filled with small personal table tops, long green couches, and an island lounge space with sun umbrellas and relaxed tik chairs.
The crowd: a few hotel guests walking about but when I was there the lobby (and pool) was empty. I think this lobby is still flying under the radar as the hotel recenlty re-opened.
Great for: meetings, checking emails, posting up, and sneaky afternoon Mai Tai's.
Coffee: yes, available from the Mayfair Grill (lobby restaurant).
Music: yes, the lobby is serenaded by numerous birds of paradise.
Wifi: free public wifi but you have to enter your email to connect (no room # needed).
Charging access: poor, the outlets aren't easy to find and would recommend bringing your charger's extension cord.
Bathrooms: yes, in the lobby restaurant.
Leave your stuff alone to go to the bathroom? Situational. If there isn't anyone next to you to watch your stuff I'd take it with you.
Callouts: direct sunlight (pack that SPF!), poor charging access, no air conditioning.

Pleasure
La Piscina: no hotel key is needed to access the roof deck with the pool and bar. Just smash SipSips on the elevator keypad and you are headed up! Services start (drinks and food) start at noon. Plenty of umbrellas and shade for lounging or working. Also, there are five outlets under the bar if you need a charge!
Lobby Bar or Restaurant: Fountain Bar (lobby bar in the garden) and Mayfair Grill (lobby restaurant).
Menu: beer, wine, cocktails, and food. Full Mayfair Grill menu, SipSips menu, and SipSips sunset menu (Fridays 5P-7P EST).
Happy Hour: yes, weekdays 4P-7P EST.
Thirsty? try the mai tai or big wave golden ale.
Hungry? SipSips burger or Gem Ceaser.
