The Crosby Street Hotel | New York
A New York Institution

Welcome back to La Recepción! Glad to have you and I hope you enjoy today’s scroll.
This newsletter documents hotel lobbies, from the lavish Miami Beach Edition to the modest Marriott Courtyard, exploring their use for both business and pleasure.
Today’s hotel lobby is a New York City institution - the Crosby Street Bar at the Crosby Street Hotel.
Lobby layout: stretching one city block from Crosby to Lafayette Street this spacious corridor turn watering hole has a 14-seat bar, lounge area, and plenty of table seating. Massive warehouse-style windows provide natural light and a view into the hotel's garden and terrace.
The vibe: is warm and homely with a modern English style. Bright colors, eye-catching artwork, and vibrant walls create one of the most unique and inviting atmospheres I have experienced.
The crowd: is a melting pot of hotel guests, afternoon tea takers, barflies, and workers.
Fun fact: all the artwork on display in the hotel is the personal collection of the hotel owners Kit and Tim Kemp.
If you are in need of a place to be inspired, the Crosby Street Bar and its quiet energy is perfect.
A request from management. If you find this newsletter, relaxing, leisurely, or inspiring please share it with a friend, co-worker, or internet friend!

Business
Great for: irl meetings, checking emails, and light work.
Coffee: yes, available from the bar. The coffee is bold, hot, strong, and fancy with hints of cocoa.
Music: yes, classical, smooth jazz, solo trumpet.
Wifi: yes, but it is not labeled Crosby Street Hotel.
Charging access: poor, but the bartender can charge your phone if needed.
Bathrooms: yes, located in the front of The Crosby bar but you have to go down a bunch of stairs. It’s a journey.
Leave your stuff alone to go to the bathroom? yes.

Pleasure
Afternoon tea anyone? Served daily from 11A-5P at The Crosby Bar, throw that pinky up and go full English. Indulge in scones with clotted cream, macarons, opera cake, cheeses, and a glass (or two 😉) of bubbly.
La Piscina: no hotel pool but there is a terrace that is open during the spring, and summer.
Lobby Bar or Restaurant: restaurant/lounge called The Crosby Bar.
Menu: beer, wine, cocktails, food, and afternoon tea (menus).
Happy Hour: no (🥲)
Thirsty? try the Red Snapper (pic below). It's a gin-based bloody mary with a botanical bite.
Hungry? try the grass-fed burger and fries.
