The Ritz-Carlton | Nomad

Luxury on 28th Street

Welcome back to La Recepción! Glad to have you and I hope you enjoy today’s scroll.

In this newsletter, I will discuss a variety of hotel lobbies ranging from the luxurious Miami Beach Edition to the humble Marriott Courtyard, through the lens of business and pleasure.

Today, we venture into the Nomad’s newest hotel lobby - The Ritz Carlton Nomad.

When you walk into the lobby of The Ritz Carlton Nomad, you are surrounded by stark black walls, accented by lavish greenery and colorful velvet couches and chairs. Creating a cozy sophistication in the lobby.

Given how new this hotel is, I was surprised to see the number of folks in the lobby working on presentations, taking IRL & zoom meetings, and checking email. If you are looking for a more luxurious spot to work from, the Ritz Carlton lobby is perfect.

Oh, and I highly recommend sticking around for a cocktail at the lobby bar, they are outstanding 🍸.

Business

Lobby layout: large narrow rectangle, divided between a relaxed lounge area filled with velvet couches and chairs, and a reception space. The space has a muffled stillness to it.

The crowd: cozy, peaceful, and calm. A mix between hotel and non-hotel guests working.

Great for: IRL meetings, checking emails, meeting prep, or killing time.

Coffee: yes, you can order coffee from the lobby restaurant Zaytinya.

Music: yes, but it is so quiet you can barely hear it. From what I could hear it was a mix of chill, vibey instrumentals.

Wifi: free public wifi that isn't gated.

Charging access: limited and hidden. Sit on the couches next to the half walls at either end of the lounge area if you need a charge.

Bathrooms: yes, located in the lobby bar and lobby restaurant.

Leave your stuff alone to go to the bathroom? yes.

Call outs: limited charging access, lounge space is small.

Pleasure

Lobby Bar or Restaurant: lobby bar by Chef José Andrés, opens 4P EST.

Menu: beer, wine, cocktails, and food.

Happy Hour: none (🥲).

Thirsty? try the Plantain Scotch Highball or Martini Cocktail 1888.

Hungry? try the bagel and lox cone.

Any Hidden Jamhz: Nubeluz (50th-floor rooftop speakeasy) & outdoor courtyard space.
