Lounge on Pearl

Welcome back to La Recepción! Glad to have you and I hope you enjoy today’s scroll.
In this newsletter, I will discuss a variety of hotel lobbies ranging from the luxurious Miami Beach Edition to the humble Marriott Courtyard, through the lens of business and pleasure.
Today’s hotel lobby is a recommendation from fellow hotel lobby devotee and reader Billy C. Welcome to The Wall Street Hotel.
The hotel doesn’t have a traditional lobby but instead an all-day lobby lounge and bar serving coffee and cocktails from 11A-11P (my dream), called Lounge on Pearl.
Lobby layout: It’s a large rectangular space, with tall ceilings, and 5 huge windows that flooded the space with natural light. Also, the lounge is 2-3 feet below the street level, which adds a unique physical element that amplifies the relaxed atmosphere.
The vibe: It’s very quiet and relaxed. The room is filled with jewel tones and a mix of modern and antique elements, creating a cozy but elevated space.
The crowd: There's a mix of individuals; finishing up work, hosting IRL meetings, having afternoon drinks with the ladies, and killing time.
I think this quote sums up the feel of this lobby perfectly.
“This sprawling space was made for everything from casual comfort to intimate moments, making it the perfect spot for work or leisure.”
Billy, we thank you for your excellent taste in hotel lobbies, this was a hidden gem and the perfect spot to spend a Friday afternoon sipping on a martini.
A request from management. If you find this newsletter, relaxing, leisurely, or inspiring please share it with a friend, co-worker, or internet friend!

Business
Great for: meetings, checking emails, posting up, and sneaky Friday afternoon Martintis.
Coffee: yes, available from the bar.
Music: yes, jazz flute, soft rock, indie & soft pop.
Wifi: free wifi, but the sign-on can be tricky. Select TheWallStreetHotelGuest network, then click sign in with an access code, then type in wallstreet2022.
Charging access: good, there are outlets under the bar, along the walls, and a few outlets in the ground behind the couches in the center lounge space.
Bathrooms: yes, on the right wall of the lounge as you walk in.
Leave your stuff alone to go to the bathroom? yes, the bathroom is right in the lounge space and folks are all doing the same thing (chatting, working, relaxing).
Callouts: there is a marble conference room table available for more serious work sessions.

Pleasure
If this hotel seems like the perfect match for La Recepción you would be correct. JF Restaurants, known for their work at the Times Square, West Hollywood, and Tampa EDITION hotels, manage the food and beverage program.
La Piscina: no hotel pool but there is a terrace that is open during the spring, summer, and fall
Lobby Bar or Restaurant: the lobby bar is named Lounge on Pearl.
Menu: beer, wine, cocktails, and food (full menu).
Happy Hour: no (🥲)
Thirsty? try the Aquitaine Martini (pic below). It's a surprisingly sweet martini (in a good way), made with Sweet Gwendoline Gin, Dolin Blanc Vermouth, and Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives.
Hungry? try the La Machande Burger. A 30-day dry aged blend, aged Gruyere, and classic aioli.
